1. Post Office Rocking Horse
The rocking horse outside the post office in Main Street has entertained local kids and captivated visitors for three generations. Still costing only 20 cents, the ride has become a Healesville icon. It can be found outside the door of the post office.
2. Healesville Sanctuary
The sanctuary was established in 1934 and has since become the pride of Healesville. Visitors come from around the globe to encounter native Australian wildlife such as platypi, kangaroos, echidnas and koalas. Located on 30 hectares of land in Healesville, the sanctuary is also home to the Australian Wildlife Health centre and is heavily involved in conservation efforts.
3. Yarra Valley Tourist Railway
A ride unlike any other, the heritage trolleys offer a unique view of the Yarra Valley while experiencing a piece of history. The round trip takes 30 minutes and passengers ride a Walker RM22 Railmotor. A trip departs Healesville every hour from 10am to 4pm on Sundays, public holidays and Wednesdays during the school holidays. For more information, visit www.yvr.com.au.
